Our promising world champion Abdalelah Haroun dedicated his world achievement and the 400 m silver medal to HH the Amir of the country, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to our wise leadership, to the federation’s president Major General Dahlan Al Hamad and its members, and to all the loyal people of Qatar and lovers and fans of athletics .. expressing his happiness and delight at this world achievement, pledging to His Highness to give his utmost effort to honour Qatari sport in general and Qatar’s national athletics team in particular at international events and the Rio 2016 Olympics .. He also praised the performance of his two teammates (Barshim and Musaab), stressing that they had not fallen short and had done what was required of them, but luck was not on their side, as everyone could see, since no champion wants to finish second, adding .. “I understand the bitterness of defeat for a great champion, and frankly everyone gave an extraordinary effort to win, but as I said, today simply wasn’t the day for Barshim and Musaab” – he hoped they would find success in future major championships .. and on what lies ahead on his domestic and international schedule .. Abdalelah said that for his part he would continue to work and give his all to raise the Qatari flag high, noting that the silver medal was a motivation for him to give even more and Haroun concluded by thanking and expressing his gratitude to everyone who had stood by him, particularly the federation’s president, Captain Khalifa Abdulmalik, the federation’s executive director and national team director, and his world-class coach Jama, and all those loyal to and supportive of Abdalelah Haroun
