Ukraine’s Sergey Bubka, a candidate for the presidency of the International Association of Athletics Federations and currently its vice-president, affirmed that Qatar has accustomed the world to superb organisation of any championship it organises, and that the first round of the Diamond League organised by Qatar will be, as usual, perfect in every respect, especially since Qatar has assembled a host of the sport’s stars, and that is why we will see strong competition between the male and female champions in all the races and events.
Bubka noted that the proposed changes to the format of the Olympic Games will not affect the sport of athletics, and that those changes will allow for more sports in exchange for reducing the number of events currently held during the Olympics
