Strong dress rehearsal for the Asian challenge in China as our champions Femi, Musab and Haroun take part in the world challenge

Our champions Femi, Musab Abdulrahman Balla, Abdalelah Haroun and Jamal Hairan are taking part in the Doha round of the Diamond League

Femi Ogunode, the Asian title-holder and the regional record-holder with a time of 9.93 in the 100 m race, who is also the bronze medallist over 60 metres at the 2014 World Indoor Championships and a five-time Asian sprint champion, is taking part, and the 800 metre race will see the participation of our two champions Musab Abdulrahman Balla and Jamal Hairan.

The Doha meeting will also see, for the first time, the participation of our rising champion Abdalelah Haroun in a non-scoring 400 metre race, a race that was included specifically for Asian athletics players, and Haroun — eighteen years old — had achieved sixth place as the fastest champion in the world indoors with a time of 45.39 seconds, a new Asian senior record, and had previously reached a time of 44.68 seconds twice outdoors, once at altitude in Sasolburg in South Africa in March and again at sea level in Manama during the Arab championship at the end of April, and this time was fast enough to earn him the gold medal in Manama as his first international title, and the Doha Diamond League meeting is a strong dress rehearsal for our champions ahead of the Asian challenge in China at the start of next June
