Stanislav Szczyrba, coach of our golden champion Mutaz Barshim, extended his thanks to Aspire Academy for its efforts, saying he believes a bright future lies ahead of Barshim, who is talented, still young, and capable of achieving a great deal in the future. He said he was confident Barshim would remain at the top and was capable of reaching 2.50m. He added that as a coach, ever since he first saw him and took over his training, he had told officials at the Qatar Athletics Federation that this young man was capable of reaching two and a half metres in the high jump, stressing that as a coach he does not focus much on what will happen tomorrow, concentrating instead on the work of the day, because he believes Mutaz has confidence, and he trusts in the athlete’s self-belief, with success set to follow.
