Lord Sebastian Coe, IAAF vice-president, confirmed that the Doha Diamond League meeting achieved great technical success for the champions and clearly revealed the champions’ readiness for the new season, especially coming as it does at the forefront of this year’s challenges. Lord Coe, one of the candidates in the IAAF elections next August, said Qatar has grown used to achieving success in organising championships, but what happened in terms of excitement and success at the Doha Diamond League meeting shows Qatar’s great progress and outstanding success, as it prepares to host the 2019 World Athletics Championships, noting at the same time that the meeting was exciting in every technical detail.
