Praising the continuity between generations on the road to achievement, Major General Dahlan Al Hamad: Qatari athletics moves with steady steps towards success

Major General Dahlan Al Hamad, president of the Qatari and Asian athletics federations and IAAF vice-president, praised our national team’s champions who took part in the Gulf athletics championship and won 14 medals. Major General Al Hamad said the medals achieved bode well for a promising future for Qatari athletics in upcoming challenges at regional, continental and global level, pointing to the upcoming Arab championship in Bahrain, the Asian Athletics Championships, and then the World Championships.

He affirmed that what Qatar’s champions achieved at the Gulf championship represents good signs of a promising future for most of the participants, noting the approach followed by the Qatar Athletics Federation of continuity between generations to carry the flag of Qatari athletics, especially as they are aware of the scale of the challenges ahead. He said the achievement reached is a motivation for further achievements in the future, especially since more than one Qatari champion could have taken part in the Gulf championship, such as Mutaz Barshim, Samuel Francis, Femi Ogunode, Musab Balla and others, but they preferred to give the opportunity to other generations to gain experience and set better personal bests for the further development of the sport. He said they also preferred to move their other champions to a stage of bigger challenges for further achievements now and in the future at global and Olympic level.

He congratulated the athletics delegation that took part in the Gulf championship in Qatif on its successes, and also praised the great effort of the brothers at the Saudi Athletics Federation and their success in organising a distinguished edition that showcased many promising athletes in the region, hoping the future would be even better for Qatar’s champions in upcoming challenges. Major General Dahlan Al Hamad had telephoned the delegation at its base in Qatif and offered congratulations to the players and the technical and administrative staff, wishing them success in the development of Qatari athletics, which is moving with steady steps towards success.
