The players and clubs affairs committee held its first meeting of the 2009-2010 sporting season at ten o’clock on the morning of Sunday 17 January 2010 at the federation’s headquarters, attended by: –
Committee chairman Mr Yaqoub Yousef Abdullah
Committee member Ms Maryam Abdullah
Committee member Mr Dr Jabbar Rahima Al Kaabi
Committee member Mr Mohammed Weiri
Al Sadd Sports Club representative Mr Hamdi Awad Allah
Al Gharafa representative Mr Abdulhamid Khamis
Al Rayyan representative Mr Abul Hamd Abdullatif
Al Wakrah representative Mr Reda Al Zeddam
Al Ahli representative Mr Mustafa Al Sayed Jameel
Al Khor representative Mr Rashid Al Alaoui Soussi
Al Arabi representative Mr Mohammed Al Zaghdoudi
Qatar SC representative Mr Saad Bouallag
The meeting discussed the agenda, which included an administrative, technical and organisational evaluation of the clubs’ cross country championships and athletics championships. The clubs’ representatives proposed not holding the youth category cross country championship on the same day as the men’s category championship, and the need to return to the previous organisational approach of holding the youth championship together with the cadets on the same day. They also proposed reviewing the points system for the overall excellence shield for the cross country championships, reducing the number of cadet events, reducing the residency period required for a player in the boys and cadets categories from five years to three years, and reviewing the qualifying
standards for competitions, especially the boys’ and cadets’ events at the Qatar Indoor Cup, since participants in this championship are Qatari players only. They also proposed increasing the financial support given to athletics clubs to match other federations, and increasing the salaries of club coaches, since an athletics coach trains five age categories at the same time. It is worth noting that the players and clubs affairs committee was formed to put forward views, ideas, concepts, proposals and observations from the clubs, which are discussed in the committee before these proposals are submitted in a report to the federation’s technical committee for discussion, which then draws up its recommendations to be submitted to the board of the Qatar Athletics Federation for discussion and for it to take whatever action it deems appropriate to develop athletics at the clubs. At the close of the meeting, the committee chairman wished everyone success in their work and thanked them for attending the meeting, with the next meeting to be held on Sunday 31 January 2010.
