Our young champion Jamal Hijran: I did not expect to win bronze

Our young champion Jamal Hijran showed mixed feelings of happiness after the silver medal was withdrawn from his teammate Musaab and awarded to him as bronze instead, saying: Thank God for everything, and I hope Musaab gets his due compensation soon and that the injustice is put right. Hijran considered the race to have been tough, and said that reaching the final and taking bronze under the judges’ decision was a useful experience he would learn from in future and which would benefit his sporting career. On the race, Hijran said the 800m brought together Asia’s leading runners and was an exciting contest, and that thank God he had put in a good performance and given his utmost throughout its stages, adding that the race had been tense, with everyone wanting to lead and be at the front, so everyone paid the price of the jostling and the lack of fair play and sportsmanship.
