Our world champion Mutaz Barshim breaks Asian indoor record at Ireland championship

Our world gold champion Mutaz Essa Barshim achieved a new milestone on European soil by reaching a new Asian indoor record, successfully and deservedly breaking the Asian record already held in his own name and reaching 2.41m, having previously set a new Asian record of 2.41m in the past few days. He succeeded in confirming his superiority in the high jump and signalled his readiness at the current stage, especially as the goal remains complete success by breaking the world record. Our talented champion expressed his happiness at the achievement in Ireland, hoping to continue delivering his best form. In turn, Major General Dahlan Al Hamad, president of the Qatar and Asian federations and IAAF vice president, congratulated our world champion on the new achievement, saying that Mutaz continually works to confirm his global superiority by breaking records, and that what was achieved at the Ireland indoor championship is new proof of his complete superiority. He wished our champion further achievements in upcoming events and praised his great determination to present a positive image in every competition.

For his part, Khalifa Abdulmalik, director of the national teams, expressed his delight at the new record, saying that our champion Mutaz Barshim has continually accustomed us to excellence and to proving he is capable of delivering the best, and that what was achieved in Ireland is an achievement at the start of a long journey of accomplishments befitting Qatari athletics. It is known that our champion Mutaz had earlier set a new Asian record in Slovakia at the Banska Bystrica indoor championship, clearing 2.40m, having previously held a mark of 2.38m, and so the progression of his marks confirms that our champion is on his way to producing even better marks.
