Our world champion sprinter Femi confirmed that the competition in his 200m heat was not easy, with a very high level in the other heats too, but he was more focused on qualifying and reaching the semi-final. Femi said the high level of competition and the presence of many big, fast names from around the world make the contest even tougher.
Femi expressed his happiness at achieving a personal best in the first round of the race and reaching the championship semi-final, adding that he would work to be at an even better level in today’s semi-final and final.
Femi said: “I was determined to reach the 100m final and did not manage it, but now I am determined to reach the 200m final, and I trust in my ability to compete with the top champions. What matters most to me is achieving the result I hope for in today’s semi-final and final.” Satisfied with his performance in the race, he added: “I know the competition will not be easy and there are big names in the sprints, but that does not mean I should not give my best. I am well prepared to compete and my goal is always to be at my best.”
