Our Olympic champion Mutaz Barshim among the world’s top ten athletes, nominated for the IAAF award

Our gold Olympic champion Mutaz Essa Barshim has been chosen among ten world champions by the IAAF to select the best athlete for the coming period, with the results to be announced at the annual gala set for Monaco on 21 November, and of course our Olympic champion, holder of the outstanding mark in the high jump, is the only Arab and Asian champion on a list that includes the world’s most prominent and important champions of all. Nominations began on 3 October and closed on the 16th, and the nominees were chosen by an international panel of athletics experts including representatives from all six continental regions in athletics, and at the end of the voting process three men and three women will be chosen for the final list announced by the federation, noting that our world Olympic champion is capable of finishing among the top three, given the new marks he has set over the past period, having in fact finished first at the World Continental Cup held in Morocco.
