Our national team ready for the big challenge at Asian cross country in Japan

Our national athletics team is preparing to take on the challenge of the 12th Asian Cross Country Championships, hosted by the Japanese city of Fukuoka  with the participation of all countries from across the Asian  continent, whose delegations have arrived in the Japanese city in pursuit of  medals.  The championships are held for men, women, junior men and junior women over various distances, and Qatar’s team is competing  in the junior category, as the team looks to  continue its technical development on the Asian continent after taking part in the  Arab Cross Country Championships, held in Yemen at the start of this month, where the team won  the bronze medal in the team event. Our junior athletics team’s delegation has arrived in the Japanese city of Fukuoka to take part in the championships, headed by  Mohammed Suleiman, assistant secretary of the Qatar Athletics Federation, and Abdulrahman Al Nubi, a board member, along with a group of promising talents in Qatar’s team led by Musab Adam, Mohammed Al Nathir, Ibrahim Abdi, Mohammed Nour, and Yousuf Idris. The Qatar Athletics Federation aims to continue  preparing tomorrow’s champions by giving  young athletes the opportunity to take part in this championship and take on the Asian challenge, with the goal of  competing against their generation of young athletes on one hand, and continuing Qatar athletics’ run of success on the other. The Qatar Athletics Federation also hopes to gain the greatest possible benefit from taking part in this championship, hosted by Japan.

Junior-level competition

Our team is competing only at junior level  over a distance of 8km, while the continent’s countries are competing with their senior men’s and women’s teams as well, but Qatar’s team’s main goal is  to gain the maximum benefit  from this championship by developing tomorrow’s champions and preparing them for future challenges, especially as everyone is at the start of the athletics season, meaning the challenge will be useful for them in achieving further success later in the current season. The technical meeting for the 12th  Asian Cross Country Championships was held with the participation of delegates from all Asian countries, including representatives of Qatar, and the federation set out the technical arrangements for the event, from athletes’ bib numbers to the judges monitoring the course at its various points for the women’s, men’s, junior men’s and junior women’s races
