Our national athletics team coach Idriss Al Sousi praised runner Mohammed Al Garni’s outstanding performance in the race, saying he had executed the required tactics precisely, staying in touch for 80% of the race while waiting for the decisive moment, before pouncing at the right time to take the lead alone and win the bet. He said Al Garni was always capable of surprising his rivals and disrupting their focus through mental and physical strength, adding that he hoped Al Garni would succeed in the 5000m final to complete the continental double, which would be excellent motivation ahead of the World Championships in Beijing this August. He noted that the championships were seeing intense competition and wide participation, and that the great effort and focus shown by our team’s champions would help them reach their goal.
