The International Association of Athletics Federations announced on Sunday the election of Mutaz Essa Barshim, world high jump champion and London Olympic bronze medallist, along with five others — including Russia’s pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva — to the federation’s Athletes’ Commission
The list of winners included Barshim, New Zealand’s Valerie Adams, Sweden’s Christian Olsson, Japan’s Koji Murofushi and Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen, in elections held in Beijing on the sidelines of the World Athletics Championships from among 16 candidates
The new members will begin their term on the 18-member commission, chaired by Namibia’s Frankie Fredericks, on 1 January 2016
