Our champion Musaab Abdulrahman: sad to see the dream slip away

Our national athletics team champion Musaab Abdulrahman expressed his deep sadness at the dream slipping away, and was clearly very emotional following the judges’ committee’s decision to disqualify him from the race and strip him of the silver medal, saying: Thank God for everything, it was God’s will, and the dream faded in the final, decisive metres. I finished second, then came the huge shock when the judges’ committee decided to disqualify me for straying off the line. I sincerely apologise to the officials for what happened because of the jostling – the race was tense and everyone wanted to be in front, so the disaster befell everyone and we paid a heavy price, and the medals in the top three places went to the rest of the field. Overall, I consider this a tough test and a useful experience for me, and that I should not look back but think about the challenges ahead and make up for the gold at the earliest opportunity, and I offer my apologies and regret to our sporting leadership, as I had hoped to present my country with a gold medal at this great sporting gathering.
