Oman win 4x100m relay bronze

Oman benefited from China being stripped of the men’s 4x100m relay gold to claim bronze, having originally finished fourth in the race held yesterday as part of day three of the Asian Athletics Championships.
The Omani delegation had lodged a protest with the championships’ technical committee after the race, over a technical violation by the Chinese team, whose runner left his designated lane during the baton change in the final 100m.
After reviewing the protest and race footage, the appeal was upheld in form and substance, and gold was stripped from the Chinese team, who had finished the race in 38.88 seconds.
Thailand moved up to first place and were awarded gold in China’s place, having finished the race in 38.99 seconds, while Chinese Taipei took silver in 39.18 seconds, and Oman’s team had finished the race in 39.36 seconds.
The Omani team is made up of Barakat Al Harthi, Mohammed Al Saadi, Ammar Al Saifi and Mohammed Al Baloushi.
This is the sultanate’s first medal of the championships.
