Nine Qatari athletes to compete at World Championships in Berlin

Nine athletes from the Qatari national athletics team achieved the qualifying standards set by the IAAF to compete at the World Championships in Athletics, scheduled to be held in Berlin from (15 to 23/8/2009). The IAAF had set qualifying standards for all athletics events, classified as (B + A), with any athlete who achieved these standards at accredited championships during the specified period from (1/1/2008 to 3/8/2009) becoming eligible to compete at these championships, considered the most important of the IAAF’s events, where more than (1500) male and female athletes were to compete for (46) medals, representing more than (180) countries.

It is worth noting that Qatar’s national athletics team had taken part in the previous World Championships in

 (Japan – Osaka – 2007), where Mubarak Hassan Shami won the silver medal in the marathon.

It is hoped that Qatar’s national athletics team will achieve strong results in Berlin, given the outstanding standards achieved by the athletes, which reflect the level of attention the Qatar Athletics Federation gives to international commitments, particularly world championships.

The following is a table of the names of the Qatari athletes who will compete at the World Championships in Berlin, their events, the qualifying standards they achieved and the dates on which they achieved them
