Mutaz sets a superb new national high jump record of 2.32 m

As part of his preparations for the coming international challenges, most notably the World Athletics Championships to be held in Daegu, South Korea, from 27 August to 4 November, and during his training camp in Sweden, Qatari champion Mutaz Essa Barshim managed to break his own national record, which he had set last year in Vietnam on 3/7/2010 with a mark of 2.31m, setting a superb new national record of 2.32m on 19/6/2011 in the Swedish city of Malmo. It is worth noting that Mutaz set 13 national records for youth and men in indoor and outdoor championships last year. He also won the gold medal at the World Youth Athletics Championships held in Canada last year and the gold medal at the Asian Games held in Guangzhou, and he holds the Asian youth high jump record of 2.31m. Our champion Mutaz is expected to achieve a strong position at the World Athletics Championships in August in Korea, and he is currently training with Swedish coach Stanislav, who was recently chosen as the best foreign coach in Qatar.
