Our gold world champion Mutaz Essa Barshim won the men’s high jump gold medal at the 19th Arab Athletics Championships hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain, retaining last season’s medal after topping the podium for a second consecutive time, clearing a height of 2.19m, while his younger brother Muammar Essa Barshim took bronze with a height of 2.13m.
On this achievement, Mutaz Barshim said: “The goal of taking part was to win the gold medal and record a good height through the best attempts, and I will keep working in the coming period to focus more on the World Championships, which will be preceded by the Asian Championships in China, a stepping stone towards the world stage.”
