Mohammed Suleiman, assistant secretary general: Femi is a world-class sprinter in the making

Mohammed Suleiman, assistant secretary general and manager of our national team at the Asian Games, congratulated gold champion Femi Ogunode on the double and on topping the podium, praising his performance and the high spirit he showed in both races, and stressing his standing in Asia, noting that the Games had marked a fresh start for the sprinter Femi,  as he is a great champion in the making with a bright future in world athletics ahead of him,  and hoping he would continue his run of success and achieve more results and brilliance in the world of professional sprinting, thanking Qatar’s champions who had done us proud, held their heads high and restored the standing of Qatari athletics.  On the judges’ decision to disqualify our runner Musaab along with the Saudi and Bahraini runners,  Suleiman said: We certainly respect the officials’ decisions, but the race was marked by tension and nerves, so we feel sad at our champion Musaab losing a medal, but that is the nature of sport –  nothing in it is guaranteed,  and we congratulate Jamal Hijran on being crowned with bronze and hope for success for Musaab in future events.
