Mohammed Jassim Al Kuwari, secretary-general of the Qatar Athletics Federation, praised the fine performances and outstanding results achieved by our national team’s champions despite the small number of participants, saying: “First of all, I would like to praise our champion Mohanad Khamis Abdullah, who won Qatar’s first gold medal at the championships – a wonderful achievement that deserves credit, and we hope for more medals to follow.”
He added: “Our delegation took part with the smallest number of champions due to exam schedules, even though the plan was for three times the current number, but we were unable to manage that. Thank God, despite all these circumstances, we proved that Qatar has a strong presence, and so I say to our champions: thank you for every effort made and everything achieved, and we expect nothing but excellence from you in future events”
