Mohammed Jassim Al Kuwari, Secretary General of the Qatar Athletics Federation, congratulated the Al Sadd family on winning the title of the most prestigious championship and the overall excellence shield, and on retaining the leadership, saying Al Sadd’s victories were no surprise for the historic club, which gives athletics its full attention and care and provides all the support and means for success and excellence. He said it was therefore no surprise that Al Sadd’s athletics strength had sat at the top for years and dominated the scene without a real rival for the titles. He also congratulated Al Rayyan and Qatar SC on finishing second and third, wishing the rest of the clubs success, and said the champions deserved the top spot and the titles they claimed. He added that there were also clubs deserving credit, such as Al Jaish, Al Khor and Al Arabi, since everyone had noticed their notable progress, and he hoped Al Sadd’s breakthrough and victories would spur the rest of the clubs to follow Al Sadd’s example and build a base and squads capable of competing, taking on challenges and unleashing the potential of their standout stars. In closing, Al Kuwari passed on the congratulations of federation president Major General Dahlan Al Hamad to the Al Sadd family on winning the title, noting that Al Hamad was abroad on a work assignment, and said: “We had hoped the captain of the ship would be with us to share this final moment.”
