Mohammed Jassim Al Kuwari, secretary-general of the Qatar Athletics Federation and assistant director of the Doha Diamond League meeting, expressed his complete satisfaction with the successes achieved by the meeting held yesterday at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium at Qatar SC. He also valued the presence and honour of Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, chairman of the Olympic Committee, at the meeting, which confirms his great support for athletics.
The federation’s secretary-general said: “The meeting was a great success and the races went off without any notable problems, all running exactly as planned. The huge crowd turnout and its engagement with the races also played a big part in the success.” On Abdalelah Haroun’s first-place finish in the 400m, he said: “Abdalelah spared no effort and worked extremely hard, beating everyone to achieve this feat in Qatar’s name. Abdalelah is still young and will have a big role to play in the future.”
