Mohammed Jassim Al Kuwari, secretary general of the Athletics Federation and director of the first Asian U18/U20 Championships, which concluded yesterday after 4 days of exciting competition at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium at Qatar SC, expressed his great happiness at the championship’s organisational and technical success, noting that the praise from senior officials and delegations for the Qatari organisation is something that makes them very happy.
He said China’s dominance was logical given their strong preparations for the championship and the large size of the Chinese team, which took part in all the events and races.
He said our junior team benefited greatly from the Asian championship, which is a strong and useful dress rehearsal for the Arab championship in Tunisia, noting that our team’s results were logical and expected, especially since they are young and their experience is modest compared to Far East athletes.
