Nicolas Maurice, secretary general of the Asian Athletics Association, affirmed that the Asian continent is going through an important phase in its athletics journey. Maurice said the great efforts made by the federation under the leadership of Dahlan Al Hamad have had a major impact on the present and the future, noting that Al Hamad works for both the current and future generations – a phase Asia had not known before Al Hamad took over the federation’s presidency, succeeding India’s Suresh Kalmadi.
The federation’s secretary general said the meetings held in Doha summed up the federation’s journey in a single word: work, noting that the federation had worked over the past period across all technical, administrative and marketing fronts, achieving many successes for the continent aimed at the future. Maurice praised Al Hamad’s efforts at the international level, which he said could not be separated from his work at the Asian level for athletics.
