Major General Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, president of the Qatar and Asian athletics federations and vice-president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, congratulated Al Sadd’s management, champions, coaches and fans on their deserved title at the Qatar Cup indoor championship for the men’s and cubs categories. He said Al Sadd had accustomed everyone to excelling and staying at the front, no matter how fierce the competition from other clubs, but this did not mean that other clubs had not had a strong presence, working clearly to reach the podium, such as Al Rayyan, Al Gharafa, Al Jaish, Al Khor, Qatar SC and others. He said: “We are delighted with the strong participation and the great development shown by the clubs seriously competing for the top places. While Al Sadd excelled on points and effort, the other clubs also had a clear presence through excelling in many races and events, even if the points told a different story.” He considered that everyone who sought effective participation was a winner, since sustained work and determination to bring forward talented, serious athletes was success in the true sense of the word. He said thanks must go to the clubs’ management and to the technical staff, since their work contributed to increasing success in Qatari athletics competitions, and he hoped the run of success would continue for all the clubs in the championships to come
