HE Major General Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, president of the Qatar and Asian athletics federations, has returned to Doha after taking part in the IAAF continental federations’ meetings in Monaco in his capacity as deputy president of the IAAF. Major General Al Hamad presented a number of future programmes for the Asian continent, which drew praise and appreciation for the work of the president of the Asian Athletics Association. On the sidelines of the meetings, Major General Al Hamad met a number of continental federation presidents with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the Asian Athletics Association and other federations.
Major General Dahlan Al Hamad is also due to travel to China next Friday to attend the events and competitions of the Asian Indoor Championships, where a number of meetings will be held on the sidelines of the championships, especially as it is Major General Al Hamad’s first championship since taking over the presidency of the Asian Athletics Association at this level, the open category, which will see the toughest competition among athletes with international reputations.
