At the start of the third general assembly meeting of the Qatar Athletics Federation, HE Dahlan Al Hamad gave a speech welcoming those present and congratulating the federation family on the major achievements made during 2015.
During the meeting, the minutes of the previous general assembly meeting were ratified, and the calendar of local championships for the 2015–2016 sporting season was approved, set to begin on 2 November with the cross-country relay for the under-age and youth categories at Aspire Park.
Al Arabi club’s proposal was also discussed, relating to increasing the budget from 800,000 riyals to one million riyals, and requesting the cancellation of one of the Hope category age groups, as well as considering a decision on the partial discount on the number of players in each category and limiting it to the under-age and cadet categories.
In response to the discussion among members, HE Dahlan Al Hamad said we will work to avoid affecting clubs’ budgets, so that they can play their role in developing the sport as fully as possible.
It was also decided to refer Al Arabi’s proposals to the technical committee for thorough study, and to submit its recommendations to the board of directors for consideration and the taking of appropriate decisions.
On the request to cancel one of the Hope categories, HE Dahlan Al Hamad said we will seek support for this important category from the Olympic Committee.
The 2015 financial year budget was also approved, along with the draft estimated budget for the 2016 financial year.
