HE Major General Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, president of the Asian and Qatar athletics federations and IAAF vice-president, wished our national team’s champions further success on the closing day of the Arab Championships and hoped for more gold, noting that the Arab Championships’ competitions had been extremely tough and strong given the participation of the best Arab male and female champions, which enriched the championship and would benefit the participants and the technical staff in assessing the athletes’ levels ahead of the global challenge, especially since the championship also revealed the extent of development among many Arab, Asian and African national teams, meaning that work is progressing as well as possible in developing present and future champions. He said the Arab championships continually help reveal a great deal to the technical staff about the development of their athletes’ performance during the training camps that start at the beginning of each season, and that he hopes our champions succeed on the final day and win more coloured medals befitting Qatari sport, affirming that Qatari athletics continually works to provide every resource for the distinguished progress of our national teams’ champions, which is reflected in the medals achieved.
