The senior organising committee for the Asian Athletics Championships, in agreement and coordination with the Asian Athletics Association chaired by HE Major General Dahlan Al Hamad, president of both the Qatari and Asian federations and vice-president of the IAAF, arranged for a simplified closing ceremony out of respect for the mourning gripping China following the sinking of the tourist ship on a river near the city of Wuhan. The flag is expected to be lowered immediately after the end of the men’s 4x400m relay final and handed to HE Dahlan Al Hamad, ahead of its handover to the nation set to host the Asian Championships in two years’ time.
