Major General Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, president of the Qatari and Asian athletics federations and vice-president of the IAAF, extended to HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, and HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, his warmest congratulations on the occasion of the blessed Eid Al Adha, and to the whole of the dear Qatari people and the Islamic nation, praying that God Almighty would bring back this dear occasion with Qatar enjoying security, glory and prosperity under the wise leadership of the Amir.
Ahead of leaving Korea to return to Doha, Major General Al Hamad affirmed that the Qatari federation’s goal is to work towards achieving the most important results at the coming Olympics, and that Qatar’s participation at the Asian Games in Korea had been successful, and speaking specifically about athletics, he said what our champions had achieved was pleasing and confirmed that the work of the past two years had produced great success, and that the goal would remain to achieve more results befitting Qatari sport, especially as our national team’s champions had succeeded in reaching the goals set for the events they took part in. Major General Al Hamad noted that Qatar athletics would keep working continuously to achieve the best results possible, especially in major events.
It is worth noting that the athletics federation will hold its general assembly on 14 October, and hold its annual ceremony the following day, when all the committees working on the federation’s various competitions and activities will be honoured.
