Major General Dahlan Al Hamad, president of the Qatar and Asian athletics federations and vice-president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, offered his congratulations to the champions of our national team who took part in the Gulf cross-country championship. He said that this great and honourable achievement, worthy of Qatari athletics, was the fruit of their efforts and their keenness to bring honour to their country, praising their commitment, determination and resolve in the Gulf challenge, and their haul of three medals – team and individual gold in the youth category and team bronze in the juniors category. He stressed that these achievements and this leadership for future generations had not come out of nowhere, but were the natural fruit of the unlimited support and great attention given by those responsible for sport and the youth sector in our dear country. He extended his deep thanks and gratitude to the administrative and technical staff of the national cross-country team and to all the champions for the effort and dedication they had shown to honour their country and raise its flag high in the regional arena. He said the federation’s constant aim was to provide every resource needed for successful participation abroad, since success depended on the champion himself, the coach, the administrator, the effort made and full focus.
