Major General Dahlan Al Hamad dedicates the golden success to HH the Amir and the Father Amir

Major General Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, president of the Qatar and Asian athletics federations, sent his highest congratulations and appreciation to HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, and HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Amir, on the occasion of Qatar’s national athletics team winning first place at Asian  continental level for the first time in its history, after beating the continent’s champions and taking first place, crowned with gold, at the sixth Asian Indoor Athletics Championships. Al Hamad said this success is our gift to our leadership, because they are behind every success in athletics through their generous patronage and unlimited support, so that Qatar’s name flies high in every challenge it enters, praising the continuous follow-up of the Qatar Olympic Committee and HE the Secretary General and his continuous interest in athletics.

A source of pride for Qatar’s team

Al Hamad said the success achieved is a source of pride for us in Qatar, because it came as a result of the fruits of generous patronage, sound planning and the development of future champions, noting that this is the first time it has happened for Qatar’s team at the Asian Indoor Championships. Al Hamad added: “Our national team, with its promising champions, was able to achieve  this success and stand out among the continent’s countries indoors by taking first place, despite facing them while they took part with the largest numbers of male and female athletes, at a time when  our team competed in the men’s category only, but it is backed by the generous patronage of our leadership, who have put Qatar’s athletics on a sound path that is bearing fruit over time, and what comes next will be even better”

Al Hamad praised the efforts of Qatar’s champions across the various distances and disciplines  and their technical staff,  congratulating them on this great success for Qatari athletics and urging them to keep up  this outstanding approach at every level.

Continuity is essential

Al Hamad told our national team’s champions, following the announcement of Qatar’s first-place finish, that what you have achieved is a great success that will be credited to you, and that you must always keep the honour of your country in mind and deliver your best levels  for the people of Qatar… Al Hamad stressed that he always believes that goals are not achieved through wishful thinking, but through hard work, followed by success from God.

The head of Qatar’s athletics programme added that officials in Qatar never hesitate for a moment to support athletics, and are always delighted by success, and that all that is required of you is to work,  because what comes next will be much harder,  and staying at the top is harder than reaching it, but as long as there is Qatari will and effort put in for development, success will not stop, and that they at the Athletics Federation hope to use this great success as motivation for further success in upcoming challenges.

Al Hamad renewed his congratulations to Qatar’s champions on their great success and wished them success in the upcoming challenges for Qatar’s athletics at junior and senior level, with the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Poland, the Asian Games and the Continental Cup  coming up, alongside regional championships and junior championships at Asian and world level.
