Major General Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, president of the Qatari and Asian athletics federations and vice-president of the IAAF, dedicated Qatari athletics’ gold achievement to our wise leadership, the president of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and the Minister of Youth and Sport. He said our champions Mutaz Barshim, Mohammed Al Qarni and Abdalelah Haroun had managed to win gold deservedly and outperform everyone, confirming that Qatari athletics is on the right track, and that there was also a bronze medal for Said Aden, and that there could have been another medal through Tosin, who was disqualified from the 60m for a false start due to a lack of experience on the part of the promising runner, which affected him after being removed from the race. Al Hamad, who chairs the championships’ higher organising committee, said the championships had confirmed there is an outstanding level on the Asian continent among both men and women, and that there is great commitment from the continental federations to keep pace with developments in the queen of sports.
Al Hamad confirmed that Qatari athletics always looks for the best in its journey in pursuit of further success and in preparation for the World Championships and the Olympic Games, noting at the same time that the current championships had achieved their goal of delivering the best technical standards among the champions of the Asian continent, and considered that Asia has begun taking its steps towards development in order to produce new champions who achieve successes for the continent.
