The meeting was attended by the heads of the various committees to discuss progress in the committees’ work and review preparations, ideas and proposals for developing the Doha 2015 meeting, which achieved a qualitative leap last season and won the highest rating from the IAAF, becoming the season-opening stage of the Diamond League.

At the start of the meeting, Major General Al Hamad, chairman of the organising committee, welcomed the heads and members of the committees working on the Doha Diamond meeting, praising everyone’s contributions and efforts during the past phase, which had ended in success. He pointed out that Qatar continued to invest in future generations and was building a strong partnership with the IAAF to advance the sport around the world, calling on everyone to work hard to translate the directions and proposals of the supreme organising committee into achievements on the ground, and to also work on consolidating the successes and gains of the Doha meeting as one of the best stages according to the IAAF.

He revealed that many world-class names, most of them Olympic and world champions, would take part in the mother of sports, competing in the 2015 Doha Diamond League meeting, noting that the names would be announced progressively as the meeting in May approached. He affirmed that the organising committee, mindful of Qatar’s standing, was working to bring in the leading champions to guarantee excitement and enjoyment for the Qatari crowds, who would have an appointment with the strongest rounds of competition in the Diamond League.
