HE Major General Dahlan Al Hamad, president of the Asian and Qatari Athletics Federations, dedicated the national team’s achievement at the Arab Championships — winning first place in the men’s competition — to HH the Amir of the country, patron of sport and sportsmen in Qatar. Major General Al Hamad said that without His Highness’s support Qatari sport would not have achieved anything, and he stressed that the gold and other medals won by Qatar’s champions in athletics represent a promising start to the season, especially since most of the participants represent a generation full of promise for Qatar’s achievements and challenges in the near and distant future, noting that athletics is now at the start of the season, and when the start is at this level, what comes next will certainly be better.
Major General Al Hamad praised Qatar’s champions for their success in the Arab challenge in Bahrain, saying it would give them a major boost for the Asian challenge next month in China and then the world challenge at this year’s World Athletics Championships. He affirmed that at the Qatar Athletics Federation, thanks to the great support of our wise leadership and the continuous attention of the Qatar Olympic Committee, they would continue working hard and diligently to honour Qatar with medals at all events.
