The high organising committee for the Diamond League ” Doha 2014 ” held its second meeting at the Olympic Committee tower, chaired by Major General Dahlan Al Hamad, president of the Qatari and Asian federations, chairman of the organising committee and tournament director, and attended by Mohammed Jassim Al Kuwari, assistant tournament director and chairman of the marketing committee, and Abdulhakim Al Omari, assistant tournament director for financial affairs, and Mohammed Ahmed Sulaiman, chairman of the crowd committee, and Yaqoub Yousef, chairman of the venues and facilities committee, and Mai Yousef Al Mohammadi, chairman of the public relations and protocol committee, and Yousef Ahmed Abdullah, chairman of the finance committee, and Khalifa Abdulmalik, chairman of the secretariat committee, and Rashed Abdulrahman Al Ansari, chairman of the transport committee, and Younes Ahmed, chairman of the accommodation committee, along with the rest of the members. At the start of the meeting the minutes of the first meeting were approved, after which Major General Dahlan Al Hamad, chairman of the organising committee, spoke, welcoming those present and expressing his hope that everyone would work with a team spirit to make the global event a success and demonstrate the State of Qatar’s role in the good management, organisation and professionalism the world has witnessed in its hosting and organising of international championships. He spoke briefly about the history of international athletics championships in Qatar, then discussed the evaluation of previous editions of the Diamond League, especially last year’s 2013 meeting, and revealed that, based on the organising committee’s decision, two new races had been approved, the 100m and 400m for Asian continental champions, with the continent’s champions to be invited to take part in the Diamond League in these two races.
