Khalifa Abdulmalik: Qatar’s champions ready for Asian challenge

Khalifa Abdulmalik, manager of Qatar’s national athletics team, confirmed that all the players are ready to compete on the Asian  continent and achieve  results that do Qatar credit. He added that they had all arrived from various training camps in Europe, Asia and Africa for a strong start to the new season, and that the first and final goal is to achieve medal-winning results at the championships and gain as much competitive exposure as possible  in preparation for the next challenge,  noting that Qatar’s team already has a number of players who have qualified for the World Championships, while the rest will secure qualification through this event, especially since the continent’s  strongest champions are taking part in this challenge in order to reach Poland and defend their standing at world level, and that the road there comes through excelling here, which makes the competition fierce  among the athletes, though Qatar’s champions will be up to the level.
Abdulmalik expressed his sadness at the absence of  our outstanding triple jumper Rashed Al Manai from this challenge, saying the athlete had been ready and in his best form, but injury prevented him from taking part,  keeping him away from the competition for treatment and a strong return for the next challenge. He hoped Al Manai would return quickly to excel again, especially as he is making confident progress towards excellence in the triple jump, in which he has achieved great success at regional level, a discipline he only recently took up after switching from the high jump
