Khalifa Abdulmalik, director of the national teams at the Athletics Federation, praised the great achievements in China, describing the Asian Championship as one stop on the road of preparation for the future, most notably the World Championships in China and the Rio 2016 Olympics. He also praised the wonderful performance, amazing results, high spirit and perseverance of our champions: gold medallist Abdalelah Haroun, winner of the 400m gold, and young Ashraf Al Seifi, who won silver in the hammer throw, as well as our senior champions Femi Ogunode and Al Garni, who honoured Qatar and claimed the most precious medals — gold in the 100m for Femi Ogunode and gold in both the 1500m and 5000m for Al Garni. Abdulmalik wished the national team’s ambassadors success for our champions competing in tonight’s and tomorrow’s finale events, to honour Qatari sport and increase Qatar’s gold tally, God willing.
