Khalifa Abdulmalik, director of the national teams and executive director of the Athletics Federation, confirmed our champions’ readiness for the Asian event after some of them finished their training camps in the best fashion or with positive outings, as was the case with Olympic champion Mutaz Essa Barshim, who has set the year’s best marks in the high jump, most recently at the Sweden meeting, noting that Mutaz will be aiming for a positive showing on home soil.
He noted that our talented champion Musaab Abdulrahman Balla will compete at the Stockholm meeting on the 17th before arriving in Doha with his other teammates, the wonderfully talented Abdalelah Haroun, who is returning in fine form, and Mohammed Nasser, who are taking part in races to help them reach full readiness before arriving in Doha on the 18th. Khalifa Abdulmalik also revealed the readiness of our promising champion Tosin, returning from America with his coach to compete in the short sprints, specifically the 60m, saying he would not be alone, with champions Eid Al Kuwari and Samuel also taking part, and he wished all our champions success at the Asian Championships and hoped they would maintain what was achieved at the previous championship.
