Jordanian Osama Al Sarhan, member of the Asian Athletics Association board and its competitions and development committee, thanked and praised Asian federation president Dahlan Al Hamad for inviting board members to the Doha meeting, saying: I hope today’s meeting will be the beginning of a return of the future of Asian athletics, and I am optimistic because the officials of the continental federation, led by Dahlan Al Hamad, are working hard for the revival of the mother of sports continentally and globally, so that Asian athletics will have a wide echo in international forums
He noted that the Asian federation board, chaired by Al Hamad, had been keen during the first period to carry out a comprehensive survey of the continent’s problems, bringing people together and putting the house in order internally, especially as there had been some disagreements, but through effort and further work the doors were opened for all Asian athletics federations to raise and discuss their concerns with full transparency and find solutions to the many problems they face, affirming that the Asian continent has enough capability, qualifications, human talent and huge economic resources to take a prominent place in the mother of sports worldwide
Osama Al Sarhan stressed that the development committee had put in place further plans discussed yesterday to develop continental competitions and events, saying: I can say with full confidence that the Asian federation has begun a new phase of work and challenge, and we are confident of continuing to advance Asian athletics
