Britain’s Sebastian Coe, president of the IAAF, said in his speech opening the meetings of the Asian Athletics Association’s board of directors at the Wyndham Hotel that he was delighted to be back in Doha. He said the source of his happiness was being present at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, which comes ahead of next month’s World Indoor Championships in America. Lord Coe thanked the Qatar Olympic Committee for its great interest in athletics as shown through this major Asian gathering, wishing success to the board of the Asian Athletics Association under the leadership of Dahlan Al Hamad in continuing the sport’s development, while stressing that the current event in Doha is the most important for the continent because it comes ahead of the global challenge of the Olympic season.
