Doha welcomed at dawn on Saturday our national athletics team’s delegation, laden with Asian gold from the Asian Games in the Korean city of Incheon, with flowers, and the victorious delegation arrived at Hamad International Airport amid a big celebration by athletes who praised our team’s gold achievements, a team accustomed to achieving success and honouring Qatari sport at every international and continental event it takes part in.
The reception ceremony for our national athletics team was marked by the presence of Abdulrahman Al Nubi, member of the Qatari athletics federation board and head of the federation’s distance-running programme, and a number of federation staff, who offered congratulations to the athletics champions who had won numerous colourful medals, chief among them six gold medals at the great Asian challenge, and the returning champions expressed their happiness at the achievement made or at their positive participation at the Asian Games, thanking federation president Major General Dahlan Al Hamad for his continuous support of their journey during the past period, with many of them expressing hope to take part again at the Asian Games to reach an even greater number of medals befitting Qatari sport.
