General Dahlan Al Hamad chairs Asian federation meeting as the nine committees submit their recommendations for a better future

The Wyndham Hotel saw the nine Asian committees hold their meetings throughout the day, culminating in the submission of recommendations to the board of directors, due to meet this morning chaired by HE General Dahlan, president of the Qatari and Asian federations, and attended by the president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, Lord Sebastian Coe. The meeting will run over two days, during which many topics will be discussed in order to reach outcomes that serve the mother of sport on the yellow continent. General Al Hamad had opened the work of the Asian federation’s committees and, after meeting with their members, wished each committee success in its meetings and in reaching recommendations that serve the drive to develop and activate Asian athletics and bring it to full excellence, since the committees’ work is a key foundation for building the journey ahead. In most of his meetings with those present in the committees, General Dahlan stressed the importance of looking ahead to the great future stage for Asian athletics, since standing still means failing to reach the desired goals, and that what is required instead is comprehensive development and a drive to provide the best resources for a fully integrated journey for the champions, male and female, of the Asian continent.

It was notable that all the committee chairs and members had arrived in Doha and taken part in the meetings, which were divided into two sessions: in the morning, the Development, Athletes, Media, Competitions and Sustainable Development committees held lengthy meetings lasting 4 hours, while at two in the afternoon four committees met — Legal, Schools and Children, Marketing, and Competitions — all committees with many members of the Asian federation’s board of directors, or chaired by a board member. General Dahlan Al Hamad expressed his satisfaction at the substantial work seen in the meetings and the determination to present a positive image for the period ahead, especially since the committees have submitted their recommendations to the federation’s board of directors, which will be discussed over the next two days, and he thanked everyone who contributed to the success of these meetings, as they marked a clear sign of a new phase in the committees’ work.

Lord Sebastian Coe arrives in Doha

Meanwhile, the president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, Sebastian Coe, arrived in Doha, where he was received by HE Major General Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, and a number of topics were discussed. Lord Coe will attend the meetings, and a number of important meetings will be held with him according to a schedule set in advance. Also arriving were Prince Nawaf bin Mohammed, president of the Saudi federation and a member of the International Federation, as well as Maurice Nicholas, secretary-general of the Asian federation, and a large number of figures taking part in the meetings or heads of delegations.
