– Opening of the session
Abdulhakim Mohammed Al Omari, chairman of the Technical Committee, opened the meeting by welcoming committee members to the Technical Committee’s first meeting of the 2012-2013 season. He noted that the federation’s working committees, in their new composition, reflected a new vision: having a club representative on the Technical Committee and a players’ representative on the Players Affairs and Local Championships Committee, both chosen by election, which would keep the Technical Committee in continuous contact with the sports clubs. He added that the new composition of the Technical Committee brought together diverse expertise, including accumulated experience in organising and preparing championships, women’s and refereeing experience, and experience in managing national teams, and that they looked forward to drawing on and making use of all this expertise to serve the development of Qatari athletics.
The Technical Committee chairman added that the basic principle guiding the committee’s work was freedom to express opinions, put forward and discuss points of view, and reach appropriate solutions before submitting them to the Qatar Athletics Federation’s board of directors in the form of recommendations. He said the committee’s aim and direction was to bring a fresh touch to technical and organisational working methods and to develop local championships through members’ ideas, opinions and outlooks, and to introduce ideas and developments not yet introduced, in a way that fitted reality and aligned with the federation’s direction and strategies in serving the national athletics teams.
The Technical Committee chairman then reviewed the meeting’s agenda. The subject of clubs hosting the “Al Amal” festivals was added under any other business, after which the agenda was discussed, covering the following topics:
