In the men’s 200 m sprint, the World Championships’ silver and bronze medallists will take part.
Jamaica’s Warren Weir will compete in the Diamond League meeting, and his performance is expected to be as impressive as the one that helped him win bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games and finish runner-up to his compatriot, champion Usain Bolt, in Moscow last year. The determination and confidence of this 24-year-old sprinter are reflected in his completing this race with a time of 19.79 seconds, his best personal mark, twice, in 2013.
Weir’s direct rival in this event will be American Curtis Mitchell, the World Championships bronze medallist, who improved his personal best to 19.97 seconds last season , and also competing in the 200 m will be the Netherlands’ Churandy Martina, who finished fifth at the London 2012 Olympics, Jamaica’s Jason Young (his best personal mark is 19.86 seconds in 2012), and his compatriot Nickel Ashmeade, who achieved his best mark of 19.85 seconds in 2012.
