World success spurs promising runner Abdalelah forward
Major General Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, president of the Qatari and Asian athletics federations and vice-president of the IAAF, dedicated the world silver achievement of promising champion Abdalelah Haroun to our wise leadership, to HE Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, Minister of Culture and Sport, to HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, president of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and to all the dear people of Qatar and lovers and fans of athletics in Qatar .. highlighting the continuous achievements deservedly earned by our promising runner Abdalelah Haroun .. stressing that the dazzling achievements of Qatari athletics and of this young champion would have a major impact in supporting the continued development of our champion Abdalelah and the rest of his teammates, noting that runner Haroun has become a source of inspiration to many, adding that Haroun is a champion of gold, and that this silver crown is only a stepping stone towards the most important world event .. the Rio 2016 Olympics . His Excellency concluded by saying .. certainly it was hard luck for champion Barshim, whom fortune did not favour, as he faced unusual circumstances from a hamstring strain in the back of his leg, which affected his physical and mental capabilities .. meanwhile runner Musaab put in an unconvincing performance, especially in the finale, where the chance was there for him to take top spot, but he failed to translate his race plan into reality and paid a heavy price for it.
