Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, president of the Qatar Athletics Federation, held the first meeting of the National Teams Committee for the 2012-2013 season, at seven o’clock on Sunday evening at the federation’s headquarters, attended by:
Chairman of the National Teams Committee: HE Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad
Committee member: Mohammed Ahmed Suleiman
Committee member: Abdulrahman Sultan Al Nubi
Committee member: Khalifa Yousef Abdulmalik
Committee member: Yaqoub Yousef Abdullah
Committee member: Mai Yousef Al Mohammedi
Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, president of the Qatar Athletics Federation, opened the first meeting of the National Teams Committee for the 2012-2013 season by welcoming the members of the national teams committee and wishing them success in their work, urging them to make a greater effort and devise new working methods, and to keep up continuous follow-up on the administrative and technical matters assigned to them, given that the committee’s work was a mirror reflecting the federation’s activity in external championships, and that the results they aspired to achieve depended on the extent of their work and follow-up in providing the best training conditions and competition conditions for athletes across the various disciplines. He noted that cooperation and coordination among committee members on technical, administrative and organisational matters would have a positive impact on players’ results, helping them perform at their best and achieve accomplishments in international arenas, and that their responsibility was accordingly great, since it dealt with the aspirations of the Qatari people to see Qatari achievements rise to a world level, particularly in athletics, which had accustomed the Qatari people to seeing Qatari athletes climb the international and world victory podiums and raise Qatar’s flag high in the world’s stadiums.
The meeting agenda was then reviewed, which included distributing responsibilities among committee members: Mohammed Ahmed Suleiman was assigned head of the middle- and long-distance and race walking unit, Abdulrahman Sultan Al Nubi head of the sprints unit, Khalifa Yousef Abdulmalik head of the jumps unit, Yaqoub Yousef Abdullah head of the throws and combined events unit, and Mai Yousef Al Mohammedi head of the girls’ centre, with Amin Khidr Taha as committee rapporteur. The technical and medical staff for the national team were also determined, and the budget for the 2013/2014 financial year was discussed.
They also discussed the overseas championships to be entered, participation in the Asian Youth Games in China in 2013, and hosting international championships in Doha in 2012-2013 organised by the federation, namely the GCC Athletics Championship for juniors and men, due to be held, God willing, in early April 2013, and the Arab Athletics Championships for men and women, scheduled for October, in addition to the Diamond League meeting due to be held in May 2013 — all of these championships to be held at Qatar SC. After discussion and deliberation among committee members, the appropriate decisions were taken on the items discussed.
At the close of the meeting, the federation president wished everyone success in their work and urged them to do their utmost to follow up on the needs of coaches and players and provide the best training and competition conditions, so they could achieve the accomplishments hoped for on behalf of our dear State of Qatar.
