Bronze Brilliance for Qatar as Aboubakr Haydar Shines in Riyadh
Team Qatar added another medal to its growing tally at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, with middle-distance runner Aboubakr Haydar claiming bronze in the men’s 800m after a fiercely contested final.
The Qatari athlete produced a strong performance, clocking 1:46.73 to finish third behind Iran’s Sajjad Moradi and Morocco’s Abdelati El Guesse. Haydar’s composed race strategy and powerful finish secured a place on the podium and demonstrated once again Qatar’s consistency and depth in middle-distance running.
This achievement marks another proud moment for Qatar Athletics, reflecting the hard work, dedication, and team spirit of both the athletes and the technical staff.
The bronze medal adds to a series of international successes for Qatar’s athletics delegation in 2025 — a promising sign as preparations intensify for the Doha 2030 Asian Games.
