The organising committee of the Doha Diamond League meeting, chaired by Major General Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, announced that tickets for the 2016 Doha Diamond League meeting — the major international athletics championship due to be held at Qatar SC Stadium on Friday 6 May — are now available at a number of sales points. Tickets can be bought and collected from the Virgin Megastore outlets at Landmark Mall and Villaggio Mall, as well as the Spinneys store at The Pearl, while on the day of the championship tickets will be available for sale at a kiosk at Qatar SC. There are four ticket price categories ranging from fifty (50) to two hundred (200) Qatari riyals, giving everyone the chance to enjoy following one of the biggest and best-known sporting championships held in Qatar: entry to the general and family stands costs QR 50, tickets at the finish line of the various races cost QR 100, while VIP stand tickets are set at QR 200, including light refreshments and drinks and car access to the dedicated parking area. Children under four (4) years old enter free of charge.
The Diamond League attracts a group of the world’s best athletes to compete in a series of meetings held throughout the year across four continents.
A number of male and female athletics stars have confirmed their participation in the Doha meeting, with Olympic and world champions among the competitors — a promising sign of a spectacular, exciting and star-studded start to the Diamond League season in Doha.
The long list of athletes includes the American sprinter and four-time Olympic and nine-time world champion Allyson Felix, the flying Dutch sprinter Dafne Schippers, the world 200m champion, as well as Olympic champion and world triple jump gold medallist Christian Taylor, Kenya’s world 1500m champion Asbel Kiprop, Ethiopia’s outstanding 3,000m runner and reigning world champion Almaz Ayana, and Olympic 110m hurdles champion Aries Merritt — not forgetting home stars Mutaz Essa Barshim, Femi Ogunode and Musaab Abdulrahman Balla.
